JAN GABRIEL - Drums
1975, Herbor-Seelbach, Germany
Jan grew up with the music of his fathers
Big Band,
who (still) play the jazz of
COUNT
BASIE et al. At the age of 6 he started playing
drums in the Big Band and from then on has
been
touring the USA and Europe. It has been
so successful, it has even turned into an annual
event!
His musical world became broader due to
the different bands he started playing in. At one
stage he, was
actually supporting famous German
bands such as
GUANO APES. He also entered the
classical world
and played percussion in a variety
of orchestras.
He is now
a very much in demand
drum teacher
and he is the driving force in his
own
pet project,
BAND APART,
which plays
Quentin Tarantino film music.
The only thing missing from his musical world was
being able to play the music of one of his favourite
bands,
LED ZEPPELIN, and when he was asked to fill
the then vacant drum stool (this was based only on one conversation Dave Harrold had with him when the band played Herborn) his wish was granted. Playing his beloved Ludwig Vistalite drum kit, Sonor Timpani's and that overwhelming Paiste 2002 ride cymbal is enough to make you believe that maybe there is a thing called
re-incarnation... because JOHN BONHAM lives on!
